TREVOR MONKS - Drums

Trevor has been performing professionally since 1997 and has been with JD PRIEST for over four years after hooking up to work a New Years Eve gig. A very seasoned player he is also the “Technician” of the group and can solve any of the urgent problems that come up last minute – he knows more about our equipment than any one of us and anything technical is immediately deferred to Trevor.  He has worked with many well known bands such as Starflyer 59 and Winston & the Telescreen. Trevor is also a music instructor and performs as an accompanist at RCC Community College in Riverside California.

From Pocatello Idaho, James has been playing for over thirteen years and has an amazing talent. He has worked with funky R&B groups like Dyverzity and Indie rockers Winston & the Telescreen and has been with JD PRIEST the longest of any of the current lineup. He gives the band its funk and soul edge with his incredible bass chops.  James also performs at his church and has a musical passion for Jazz and funk ….……………and long quiet walks along the beach?

Matt Workman has an innate musicality and is the newest member of the JD PRIEST posse. He plays Drums, guitar, mandolin and vocals and is a student at RCC Community College with a major in music. Matt and JD met when he showed up at a gig as a substitute drummer – he was great at that and then told JD he played guitar. Matt’s been with them ever since and brings new magic into the group with his diversity of talent and musicianship. He also performs in a variety of local music projects as well as being involved with his church and RCC’s chamber singers with whom he has toured to Ireland & Wales to perform in a world-wide International vocal competition.

He also shares his talents doing guest performances  in-studio with fellow musicians like Jenny Mac,  Kelly McGuire and alternative rocker  Mustard. His career began back in the early eighties, singing and playing guitar for a number of Southern California bands.
After serving a tour of duty in the United States Air Force JD moved back to California and began working with the Americana group Acoustic Connection where he made his national television debut on the Nashville network performing on the Charlie Daniels’ Talent Round-up.
The National Academy of songwriters also recognized JD’s blazing talents and invited him and his band to perform for the Acoustic Underground and Billy Block’s Western Beat where they were nominated for acoustic artist of the year featuring music by JD Priest.
In the mid-nineties JD struck out on his own and started his own band.  He has since performed all over the country and shared the stage with such well-known acts as John Waite (Babys),  Lou Gramm (Foreigner), Micky Thomas and Starship, the Calling, Jimmy Van Zant, Dan Seals and many more.  He has also performed on stage with percussionist Paulo Matioli.
